360 Video is all the rage right now.  Paired with a VR headset like the Samsung Galaxy Gear, Oculus and Google Cardboard these films can create an incredibly immersive experience that simply can’t be rivalled.
YouTube and Facebook are pushing their 360 capabilities and brands are jumping in to try it out with great success, as you’ll see below. We’ve listed some of our favourite 360 videos so have fun and enjoy, and in the process see if this is something that could work for you.

Help

This is a fantastic narrative based approach to the VR/360 concept. It’s an incredible well put together monster film directed by Justin Lin (Star Trek: Beyond, Furious 7) that really shows off what this technology is all about.

Google & National Parks

Google invites you along to 5 of Americas most varied national parks for an incredible journey through lava fields in Hawaii, Canyons in Utah and the Fjords of Alaska. Don’t Breathe

An interesting way of using the 360 tech is for film trailers. Horror film, Don’t Breathe is currently riding high in the US box office right now and part of the promotional materials included this terrifying experience that really makes you feel like you’re part of the film.

West Ham FC

You don’t have to be a football fan, or even a West Ham fan to appreciate this video. The team recently moved to the 2012 Olympic Stadium in London after having occupied the Boleyn ground for over 100 years. West Ham thought one of the best ways to give it a good send off would be through an immersive 360 film that puts you right on the pitch.

New York Times – The Displaced

Another unique way of using the technology is through documentary. New York Times used 360 cameras to follow three child refugees as they go about their daily lives, giving you the opportunity to see the world through their eyes. There are some truly amazing shots in this film.
